The Royal Delft Factory is nearby in Delft, where artisans paint Holland’s famous blue and white porcelain. Painters who work on Royal Delftware train for at least one year before they are permitted to decorate an object by themselves.

The Dutch Master Painter Johannes Vermeer (1632-1675) spent his entire life in Delft, using everyday existence here as his main subject. His most famous works include Girl with a Pearl Earring (which inspired the best-selling book and Hollywood movie) and View of Delft.
